EMRA Round 3 and 4

There has been no sleep at the Ducatidaddi Racing team headquarters somewhere west of Calgary buried deep in the back of the Famous Skunkworks Fabrication Shop (Skunkworks because the main rider is lactose intolerant and someone keeps bringing DQ Blizzards to the late night tuning sessions).

The insomnia is caused by the 3 year old puzzle of how to solve the 51Racing problem. We at Ducatidaddi Racing pride ourselves in our "above board" behavior and sportsmanlike conduct........but we did it. I hate to admit it but we did something immoral, unethical and in some countries ILLEGAL!!!

We hired a spy. There it is, out in the open for the world to see. It was at untold expense and everyone was very concerned about being caught. But in this high stakes world of "old men racing", it was worth the risk. And what a plethora of information, secret tricks, intel we gathered.

The first thing is that reports came back of a new pit tent. And not just any tent, but the fastest one money could buy. While embarassed to repeat what he saw through the window, our spy said that Duke Nukem was so excited about the new tent, he spread it on the shop floor, crawled under neath it and erected it in 2 seconds without even using his hands! Now that is ONE EXCITING tent. Then Duke was heard chanting, 'faster, faster, faster". That has take at least 2 seconds off his already blazingly low lap times.

Ducatidaddi Racing could not believe the extent 51Racing will go to just to get an upperhand.

Not to be outdone, our team manager spent the night on the phone with all the Ducati racers in Southern Alberta. The racers all agreed that MEDIAEXTREME has the fastest tent in Calgary. 2 hours of extensive negotiations, 2 draft picks and future considerations; a deal was struck. DucatiDaddi Racing will be running under a borrowed tent this weekend just to try to cut in half the advantage 51Racing got by aquiring a faster pit tent.

Stay tuned for updates over the 3 day weekend as DucatiDaddi Racing goes head to head with 51Racing for bragging rights as the 2 gentlemen of the sport square off. May the fastest tent win.

EMRA Round 2

DucatiDaddi Racing of Calgary travelled to the provincial capital of Edmonton for the June 20/21 weekend to test recent repairs to the 1998 Ducati 916 transmission and attempt to get back into racing form.

While the team reported "mixed" results, one of the old "rivalries" flared up like a California wild fire during a drought!

51Racing out of Edmonton, picked up right where they left off last season. What you need to know is that the main rider for 51Racing and DucatiDaddi team leader are 2 of the oldest riders in the series. In fact they are older than the fathers of the guys they are racing.

An epic battle occured that caused the race announcer to lose interest in the leaders and follow the corner to corner antics of these 2 teams. On the Stratotech 1.1 mile, 9 corner road course, both riders traded positions with the horsepower of the RC51 of 51Racing pulling away under throttle, and the Brembos on the Ducati 916 allowing later braking and overtaking in almost every corner entry. Many members from the crowd flocked to the 2 teams pits to congratulate both riders on some of the most entertaining racing of the day!

51Racing's main star, "Duke Nukem" Rick Newcombe was overheard telling his lead mechanic, "you have to get more more braking power, on every corner he is showing me a wheel, usually the rear wheel! I cannot out brake him"

DucatiDaddi Racing's rider, TC (Tri-Colore) Joe P was wild after getting off the track. He was saying, "Wow, where did that guy come from? He has to be 2 seconds quicker than last year. I destroyed a brand new set of Brembo pads just trying to out brake him..then he pulled the pin on that grenade of a bike and rockets away down the straights. Is he running jet fuel in that thing?"

Much to the delight of their hundreds of fans, they met in pit lane and congratulated each other in a very emotional and moving way and promised to go after each other hammer and tongs in the round 3 and 4 double header coming up on July 11 and 12.

DucatiDaddi Racing would like to thank the EMRA for a wonderful event that was professionally run and also a special thanks to 51Racing for making this an weekend of epic battles.

The gauntlet has been thrown.
